Hello Makers of Modular Tool Storage Systems! (Milwaukee Tool Packout, Dewalt Tough System, Rigid Pro Gear, etc)

I am a controls engineer. My job is to design industrial control cabinets in the office, and then work in the shop to get them working and tested for the customer (called system “startup”). While I’m in the shop, I go between getting my hands dirty tracing wires and staring at the computer and programming PLCs. My job is between an engineer and electrician.

Normally people in this industry just head to the local big box store and buy a folding chair and table. But I have a different idea.

I want your modular storage systems to have a baby with the computer on wheels you see around hospitals. Going from bottom to top, I want the following things:

  1. It needs to be on wheels. My “shop” is a weld shop, and there are i-beams embedded into the concrete with a two inch top plate poking out. These are used to hold and stabilize big items and test stands that we are working on. It would be great if this contraption could menuver over these; although this requirement isn’t typical of my industry.
  2. At the bottom of the cart, put your battery generator thingy.
  3. Above that I want to be able to put a cheap laser printer. (this doesn’t have to be powered from your battery generator)
  4. I need space for a small amount of hand tools which your systems already do a great job of. I need some screw drivers, wire strippers, allen wrenches, small amount of wrenches and socket sets, etc.
  5. The star of the show is a keyboard, monitor, and laptop dock. I want a keyboard tray that extends out from the stack. And mounts for dual monitors above. I’d love if it worked like a standing desk. Sometimes you want to stand when your referencing things quickly, and other times you want to sit for a long programming session.
  6. It would also be nice to be able to hang a barcode scanner.

Oh, and I need to be able to move this thing around with my sedan. That might be too much of an ask. Anyways, thank you soo much for reading!
